
«The Head of State has set a clear task to strengthen the scientific basis of the nuclear industry by modernizing existing installations and creating new ones. The construction of a research reactor at the Institute of Nuclear Physics, as well as a similar project at the National Nuclear Center, is a key step towards developing modern technologies, training personnel, and expanding scientific and production capabilities. Kazakhstan is open to various technological solutions and is ready to consider optimal configurations based on international experience», - Chairman of the Agency of the Republic Kazakhstan for Atomic Energy Almasadam Satkaliyev said opening a seminar* on the design, construction and operation of research nuclear facilities at the Institute of Nuclear Physics, Almaty on December 3-4.
During the seminar, Vladimir Sergeevich Shkolnik, President of the Nuclear Society of Kazakhstan Association, recalled the history of the development of Kazakhstan’s nuclear energy industry and stressed the importance of long-term cooperation with the Institute. He noted that the territory and infrastructure of the Nuclear Research Institute in Almaty are the optimal site for hosting a new research reactor.

This meeting brought together leading experts from Kazakhstan and Russia and became a platform for the exchange of experience and discussion of further development of the country’s nuclear research infrastructure.
