The prospects for joint research in the use of nuclear and radiation technologies in agriculture, food industry, medicine and other areas of human activity were discussed at a meeting in Kurchatov by employees of the National Nuclear Center of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kazakh National Institute for Plant Protection and Quarantine (Almaty), Pavlodar State University (Pavlodar), Nuclear Technology Park (Kurchatov).

Laura Kenzhina, head of the group of epidemiological and biodosimetric studies, NNC RK:

- The use of high-tech industries using physical factors, in particular ionizing radiation, is based on interdisciplinary fundamental research at the intersection of physics, biology, medicine, chemistry, etc. Therefore, the discussion touched upon various aspects of the application of radiation technologies, including fundamental research on the effects of various types of radiation on microorganisms pathogens, insect pests, plants, animals; rationing problems; dosimetry and radiation safety; the effectiveness of the application of radiation in the processing of various types of agricultural and food products; safety and product quality and more.

As a result, the considered ways of cooperation will contribute to the achievement of common goals that are aimed at the development of science and technology.
