On June 24-27, 2019, the II International Scientific Forum “Nuclear Science and Technology” will take place in Almaty on the basis of the Institute of Nuclear Physics. The main organizer of the forum is the Institute of Nuclear Physics of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The forum will include the traditional 12th International Conference “Nuclear and Radiation Physics”, the 1st International Scientific and Practical Conference “Nuclear and Radiation Technologies in Medicine, Industry and Agriculture”, as well as the 10th IAEA Seminar "Development of Asian databases on nuclear reactions."
The traditional International Conference "Nuclear and Radiation Physics" will be devoted to the discussion of current problems in the fields of nuclear physics, atomic energy, solid state physics, radiation material science, radiation ecology, nuclear physics analysis methods.
Nuclear and radiation technologies in medicine and industry have been developing at the Institute of Nuclear Physics for many years. In 2017, commissioning of the facilities of the Center for Nuclear Medicine and Biophysics began, which consists of a specialized building for the production of radiopharmaceuticals and a building for radiation sterilization. In 2018, the radiopharmaceutical production site was certified for compliance with GMP proper manufacturing practices. The production of radiopharmaceuticals for single-photon emission tomography and positron emission tomography was organized, and their regular delivery to medical clinics was ensured. On the basis of this Center, all conditions have been created for the production of a wide range of radiopharmaceuticals, not only for diagnostics but also for radionuclide therapy for various diseases. In this regard, 1st International Scientific and Practical Conference "Nuclear and radiation technologies in medicine, industry and agriculture" conference will be held within the forum which will further strengthen the cooperation of specialists from the Institute of Nuclear Physics, medical centers, industrial and agricultural enterprises of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
As part of the forum under the auspices of the IAEA will be held the 10th seminar "Development of Asian databases on nuclear reactions." Nuclear data are important components of a wide range of applications, including such as the design and operation of nuclear power plants; nuclear waste management; production and use of radioisotopes; medical dosimetry and diagnostics; development and use of lasers and accelerators; thermonuclear research; environmental monitoring, etc.
The International Advisory Board and the Forum Organizing Committee includes leading experts in the field of nuclear physics, nuclear energy, solid state physics, radiation materials science, radiation ecology and nuclear medicine from many countries of the world, as well as representatives of several international organizations.
More than 200 scientists from 17 countries of the near and far abroad will take part in the forum: Austria, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Germany, India, Italy, China, Mongolia, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkey, Uzbekistan, Ukraine, France, the Czech Republic, and Japan.
