On the base of the Institute of nuclear physics from the 5th to 7th of September, 2018 the National Nuclear Forensics Library (NNFL) Workshop arranged by National Nuclear Security Administration of US Department of Energy with Committee of Atomic and Energy Supervision and Control of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan was conducted for representatives of state authorities of the Republic of Kazakhstan, organizations and companies in the sphere of atomic energy use.
During the Workshop instructors from several US National Laboratories and the US Department of Energy presented approaches to the development, filling and using of NNFL database for needs of nuclear forensics and countering illicit trafficking of nuclear and other radioactive materials. The lectures were accompanied by practical exercises to consolidate knowledge and skills. Also, during the Workshop the areas of further cooperation on the development of activities on nuclear forensics in the Republic of Kazakhstan were discussed.
