18th Coordinators’ Meeting of Forum of Nuclear Cooperation in Asia was held from March 7 to 9 in Tokyo (Japan) as well as FNCA international workshop on nuclear liability, participated by delegation from RSE NNC RK headed by Mr. E.G. Batyrbekov, Director General.

The Coordinators’ Meeting and International Workshop were organized by Japan Cabinet Office (CAO), Japan Atomic Energy Commission (JAEC) and Ministry of Education, Culture, Sport, Science and Technology (MEXT). The events were attended by representatives from 12 FNCA member-states – Australia, Bangladesh, China, Indonesia, Japan, Kazakhstan, Korea, Malaysia, Mongolia, Philippines, Thailand and Viet Nam.

At the meeting, leaders of projects presented reports on progress in 2016 and results achieved for the period.

Session on development of research reactor network and neutron activation analysis projects was chaired by Erlan Batyrbekov. The session discussion emphasized achievements of the projects and interest of FNCA member-states in their continuation, proposed their integration into new research reactor utilization project, and recommended to promote activities on radiation material study in the framework of the new project.

Upon the Meeting discussion results the decision was made to continue cooperation between FNCA member-states in 2017 in 8 sectors: radiation oncology, mutation breeding, radiation safety and radioactive wastes management, nuclear security and safeguards, research reactor application, biofertilizer, neutron accelerator application, global climate change research.
