On 1-4 of October the specialized Workshop on application of SPARCS system (system of radioactive sources spectral analysis) was held in the Institute of Nuclear Physics for search of the orphan sources of ionizing radiation. The representatives of the National Nuclear Security Administration of the US Department of Energy took part in the Workshop.

During the seminar, the instructors from the United States described and showed the SPARCS system spectrometric equipment to the specialists of the Institute of Nuclear Physics and explained the basic rules for its application. The instructors provided the practical training for search, identification and transportation of the orphan radioactive sources using the technology of vehicle gamma-spectrometric survey.

After completion of the Workshop, two sets of equipment of radioactive sources spectral analysis system were transferred to the Institute.
