At the end of the 4–day mission of the International Atomic Energy Agency for an integrated nuclear infrastructure review of Kazakhstan (INIR), the IAEA experts together with representatives of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan visited one of the nuclear infrastructure facilities of our capital – the Information Center for Atomic Technologies of the Nuclear Society of Kazakhstan, engaged in the popularization of atomic knowledge, as well as technical, engineering and environmental education.

This mission of the IAEA is represented by experts from the Nuclear Infrastructure Development Section Mehmet Ceyhan and Thibaut Reyset, as well as an external expert from the UK Stephen Mortin. The IAEA experts assessed the progress in implementing the recommendations and proposals received following the results of the 2016 INIR mission.

For reference:

INIR missions help the IAEA member countries assess the status of the national nuclear infrastructure and determine further development needs for the implementation of nuclear power plant construction projects.
