On March 4, 2022 the Association «Nuclear Society of Kazakhstan» held a regular seminar on nuclear power issues for regional mass media and bloggers of Kazakhstan: «Nuclear power: myths and reality».

The main objective of the seminar was the informational work to raise awareness of representatives of the information sphere about nuclear power and modern nuclear technologies in both world and domestic practice.

The seminar began with a welcoming speech by the Director of the Association «Nuclear Society of Kazakhstan», the moderator of the seminar Seifullina Togzhan Amangeldievna, who wished all participants productive work and qualitative discussion of issues on the topic of the seminar.

The nuclear industry experts at the seminar were:

  • Tazhibaeva Irina Lashkarovna – Executive Director of the Nuclear Technology Safety Center;
  • Zhantikin Timur Miftakhovich – General Director of Kazakhstan Nuclear Power Plants LLP;
  • Koyanbayev Yerbolat Taitoleuovich – Deputy Director for Materials Research of the Institute of Atomic Energy Branch of the RSE NNC RK;
  • Abildaev Almaz Syzganbekovich – Director of the Analytical Center «Energy Aspects of Kazakhstan»;
  • Aliev Seit Abeukhanovich – Director of the Information Center for Atomic Technologies.

At the seminar, experts discussed such important and relevant topics in the field of nuclear power and technologies as:

  • Nuclear industry: achievements and ways of development in both the world and Kazakhstan.
  • Experimental studies to substantiate the safety of nuclear power.
  • Nuclear Power Plants: modern technologies and safety.
  • Nuclear power plants as a solution to the future energy deficit.

At the end of each expert presentation, journalists and bloggers took an active part in Q&A sessions.

In the second part of the meeting, all participants of the seminar visited the Information Center for Atomic Technologies (ICAT Nur-Sultan). They were presented models of a laboratory box, a hot chamber and various types of power plants, interactive films in different languages, and the opportunity to try themselves in intellectual quizzes offered to Kazakhstani youth when getting acquainted with Peaceful Atom.
